An Embedded QoS-aware Residential Gateway in Advanced Home Network

The integration of wireless and wired network makes the mobility communication anytime and everywhere come true. The growing of multimedia services make home networks are becoming ubiquitous that is challenging bandwidth capabilities with respect to QoS to meet its requirements. To deal with these issues, this study presents an embedded QoS-aware residential gateway (EmQRG) in the advanced wireless/wired home network which classifies forwarded traffic for optimal use of bounded network bandwidth resources. Experimental results confirm that EmQRG successfully performs DiffServ-QoS via classbased queuing (CBQ) bandwidth management in MrouterPC emulation so that good quality of service and video performance are maintained during network congestion.
